Focus on the positive in you
If our brains mimic transmitting and receiving stations, then why do we transmit negative energy more frequently? Why do we allow information to lodge in the subconscious that influences our perspective in the wrong direction. Think about this; when we spoke of paradigms and changing our theories or beliefs, this includes feeding our brains or subconscious with good information and providing a more fertile environment for happiness and positive change (Nightengale, 1956). Many books refer back to thoughts and how these thoughts influence our path.
So, we also discussed early on, the importance of goals. If you do not have a target to shoot for, how do you know when you have succeeded? How do you know you’re on the right path? Goals are likened to a road map for our life. We all have needs and wants. In order to get to the prize, don’t we have to know what that prize is? We also here we don’t have to know how we can attain the resources we need to reach our goal, but we do need to know what we want to achieve and what we are willing to do to reach the finish line!!!!
So, getting back to transmit/receive; our brains send out signals and when we communicate, there are verbal and non verbal signals. When we walk from point A to point B and we keep our head down, we send the signal non verbally that we are not confident. The typical excuse we give is that we don’t want to trip over something in our path. If we are not looking a person in the eye when we speak of our goals, we are exhibiting doubt and we are demonstrating we don’t truly believe we are capable of reaching our goal.
Self-efficacy is important. Self-efficacy is when we believe in ourselves. If we undertake a project with low self-efficacy and low self esteem, we are setting the stage for defeat. Our brain will find plenty of material for us to store and make ready to excuse our defeat. Amazing how we don’t make excuses for our successes. We all encounter set backs, we all encounter moments of self doubt, we all have to reach outside of our comfort zones to learn and grow. So why do we allow defeat to occur more frequently? Don’t we deserve better?
So, as move through this week, let’s think long and hard about what messages we want to send and receive. Do we want to send messages of confidence, of happiness, of success? Or do we want to be like the majority of folks and just follow the masses and save our energy with built in excuses? I’ve long fought to grow and learn and to help others. I also have participated in plenty of self-sabotage. We all make mistakes. We all fall down and have to fight our way back up. But guess what??? YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!
Seek out information on challenges. Seek out self-improvement courses. Examine your strengths. QUIT going for the easy road or the short list. I know we are tired right now; I know we want a sense of normalcy; I know we want to remain healthy and strong. We have a true gift right now; Time!!!!! We have the time to reflect, to list our strengths, to make a new road map and make positive changes!!!! Why not open this gift with as much excitement and anticipation as we opened presents as a child during Christmas and birthdays???? Let’s stay focused, stay hydrated, and stay healthy. Let’s BELIEVE IN OURSELVES!!!!!
