What will 2021 mean for you?
Here we are; on the verge of another New Year. What will 2021 mean for you? Are your goals grand and overly ambitious? Have you just simply decided to see what the pandemic will do moving forward? Do you have the motivation to workout remotely? Virtual fitness can be just as fun as in person. If you have at least 5-10 people in a virtual class, you can retain the socializing element, albeit through a computer screen. As we go forward, we want to carefully evaluate and plan our time. Each day is an opportunity for creating transformation, so why wait until the New Year to begin?
We often set very high goals for ourselves and that is not a bad idea. It makes us work harder, it makes us face failure more often and it creates an opportunity to learn from past mistakes. We spend one night, maybe one week, reflecting on our past and yet we do very little to make the needed changes to transform our path. It’s like we prefer dwelling on the past mistakes rather than focusing on ways to change ourselves and our lives for the better. I know because I am human and spent too many years allowing others to manipulate my feelings and my direction.
As we head into a New Year, we are getting mixed messages; some filled with hope and some filled with caution. The one certainty in life is that change is a constant and the ability to adapt to change is a necessary skill. I have worked for many different personality types over the years and one thing I can say for certain; working for myself and having to cope with my personality alone is much easier. Who knows me better than I know myself? I know my weaknesses, my flaws, my strengths, and I don’ t have to try and read signs or try to do internet searches on co-workers to get pertinent information on how to be successful.
What I want for all of you in the coming year is better health, better habits, and a way for you to grow. The new community set up for individuals 50+ years of age will give you much needed information and education. While I focus mainly on helping you stay fit and watch your calorie counts, I have also had many varied personal experiences that gave me insight into where education and information is still needed. The starting point for all of us is within. Search within to truly define your values, your goals, and your dreams. Imagine you can do or be anything you want and there are NO obstacles.
With this starting point in mind, develop at least 3 good ideas each day on your area of interest. Also start each day with 3 things you are grateful for. Yes, we all have things we can give thanks for no matter what the situation is at this moment. A moment in time is simply a temporary snapshot of now, but does not in any way mean the future has to be similar to this moment. We can build our lives and transform our lives with mindful activities that allow us to recognize those special snapshots that are a glimpse into our new self.
2021 can be anything you want or it can change nothing. You make the choices. You decide what thoughts and actions YOU will take to make your life what you want. You decide what messages are received and transmitted to others through a smile or a frown. Will you be more kind? Will you work hard to connect with others in a way you have not tried before? Will you let the negative news stories keep you stuck and depressed? Choose better. Turn off the news, listen to upbeat music, join an audio book club and listen to uplifting stories. And, remember, stay hydrated, stay focused, and stay healthy!!!!
